A little about me

Currently, I’m a Creative Director at Concentrix, a global marketing services company focused providing purpose built technology to help make businesses better.

Previously I was a Senior Art Director at the JRT Agency, Art Director and Graphic Designer at a bunch of other places before that.

A lot about me

I love making stuff and talking about the stuff I've made. I love talking about the stuff I want to make. I love figuring out all of the different ways I can get to one goal. I love process. I love research. I love exploring ideas.

There’s a scene in the Wilco documentary (I Am Trying to Break Your Heart) where Jeff Tweedy goes to the bathroom and pukes because of the stress of an argument that heʼs having with his bandmate Jay Bennett.

I feel that way when we start a new project. Not every time. But not, not every time.

It’s stressful. It feels like burning. It makes you panic. But then you sit down. You go to work. You break your ideas. You make something. The fear goes away. It slowly becomes the most rewarding part of my job.

Itʼs the rush you get when you puke and feel better.

I came to my job because of two things: cars and music. Iʼve obsessed over cars since I was a child. Loving them has been transformative. But, the two that cemented that love, were the 911 and the Countach. They were, and still are, amazing to me. Fast. Dynamic. Exotic. Purpose built.

Music, on the other hand, was an even deeper love and that directly led me to design. In 1992 and 1993, I was at the perfect age to become obsessed with Nirvana, Beastie Boys, Radiohead. One obsession led to another, in punk rock, snowboarding and skateboarding and all of the art thatʼs associated with it.

Snowboarder Magazine. Thrasher. Transworld. You watch all of the snow and skate videos and then get into the bands that were in them. It was a perfect loop.

After High School I studied Graphic Communication and Marketing at Baker College. Over time I went from a matte room assistant to Production Artist, Graphic Designer, Art Director, Associate Creative Director and finally, Creative Director. Along the way I've worked in-house and at agencies. I know what's good, and what's bad, about both.

I love the work we do and the business we're in. I love talking projects. I love talking opportunities. Branding. Digital. Video. Print. Art Direction (my first love). Writing. Anything. This page is only going to get you so far at trying to figure out who I am, and what I'm capable of. My resume, will get you a little farther . . . but you’re going to want to reach out.
